Michael Jackson’s mom gets kids, estate control for now

The report is just an example. My question isn’t about Michael Jackson specifically.

My question is about events over covered in general. I mean, events, usually tragic, that are exploited (or explored? I don’t know the right word for this context) by media much more than should be. Events showed and told by all kinds of media, in minimum details, all the time, for many days. Of course, many times, they are important events, but some personal details are not important for us.

The question is why it does happen? Are the Medias guilty? (Because they open their space for this kind of information and the coverage is more than necessary). Or are people guilty? (Because people accept, “buy” it. People support the media, and they make this kind of report stronger.)
